In Alabama, GreenStar Biofuels will receive up to $2.756M in non-education property tax abatements over the next five years to build a $66m, 30.5 mgy biodiesel refinery in Theodore. The company plans to begin work in mid-to-late summer, with construction finished by mid-2014. The tax abatements were approved by the Mobile Industrial Development Board.
In Colorado, BioFuel Energy gained a whopping 9.24%, adding 51 cents to end at $6.03. Over the course of the day, 900,000 shares changed hands. The stock has been added to the NASDAQ Gainers Watch List as the company recovers from its recent 52-week low.
In Canada, Lignol invested A$2.5M to acquire 356 m shares of Australian Renewable Fuels Limited. The investment, combined with previous acquisitions, represents a 21.4% stake in ARW, and Lignol is now one of ARW’s largest shareholders. Lignol recently announced a line of credit with Difference Capital Funding, and covered the investment with this credit.
In Brazil, Tonon Bioenergia SA will nearly double their sugar-cane capacity by purchasing Paraiso Bioenergia SA. The acquisition will extend their current 5.7m metric ton sugar-cane crushing capacity to 8.2m. Tonon will be using existing shares of an undisclosed value to cover the acquisition.
