In California, Ecospan announced certification of its BioFlow brand resins by the USDA as being 94% Biobased within the agency’s BioPreferred program.  Ecospan is a material science design, development, and manufacturing company producing durable goods made from bio-based plastics, with their products being processed on existing, traditional plastic manufacturing equipment with minor modifications.

Purac seeks Thai tax waiver for lactic acid biorefineries

In Thailand, Purac has requested that the Industry Ministry grant an import tax waiver for their lactic acid plants.  The waiver would be for importing raw materals to support production.  Wannarat Channukul, Industry Minister, commented that Bol had previously given such tax waivers for some new industries.
