7. Better look beyond landfill gas for RNG.

For years, landfill gas projects have been popular with the public — after all, who’s for emitting methane at landfills? We mentioned that Brian Foody had a second slide that transfixed us, here’s the second. Turns out, there’s not nearly enough landfill gas available for projects as we think. Why? Lots of landfill gas is stranded in no-pipeline land, lots is committed elsewhere, and lots of what’s left is already captured for developed projects. Leaving just 20 percent of all US landfill gas available for future projects. Sounds like a job for dairy waste!
