#8 Biobased coffee pod maker granted BioPreferred label

In Delaware, a producer of biobased coffee pods has earned certification from the United States Department of Agriculture.

Smile Beverage Werks says the Certified Biobased Product label will be available for its coffee pods compatible with the ubiquitous Keurig K-Cup brewers.

The Certified Biobased Product label is a third-party verification program through the USDA BioPreferred Program.

“Products from Smile Beverage Werks are contributing to an ever-expanding marketplace that adds value to renewable agriculture commodities, creates jobs in rural communities, and decreases our reliance on petroleum,” Vernell Thompson, a USDA BioPreferred Program official, tells Vending Market Watch.
