In South Africa, Cramers Engineering News reports that MultiCycle is looking to use black soldier fly-based processing of human waste into biodiesel, lubricants and other valuable materials under its BioCycle arm, with design for its first commercial-scale plant expected by the end of 2020. In essence, the larvae are “seeded” onto the fecal waste that then eat it up and they themselves are processed into bioproducts through a rendering process, the solids are separated from liquids, and oils are separated from the liquids to make biodiesel.
