FHR’s Shell Rock ethanol plant pleased with FQTP upgrade

December 28, 2020 |

In Iowa, Flint Hills Resources’ Shell Rock ethanol plant has installed Fluid Quip Technologies’ Maximized Stillage Co-products process, allowing it to produce a 50% protein feed for livestock, aquaculture and pets while continuing to produce ethanol. After the upgrade, the volume of ethanol produced remains the same but about a quarter of the DDGS produced is instead converted into a higher quality feed ingredient as well as corn oil allowing for increased revenues. The technology was installed in July following successful installation at Flint Hills’ Fairmont, Neb., plant in 2018.
