In Latvia, the Baltic News Network reports the government has canceled its biofuel blending mandate until the end of 2023 in an effort to lower fuel prices in light of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine that has wreaked havoc on food and energy markets. Fuel retailers may blend biofuels voluntarily, however. The media has reported that eliminating biofuel blending might only achieve a savings of 3 or 4 cents per liter compared to pump prices of 2 euros per liter.
