Biden to block Johnson’s attempt to scrap G7 biofuel mandates

In Germany, the UK’s Telegraph newspaper says that President Biden intended to block Prime Minister Johnson’s attempt to get G7 countries to temporarily remove biofuel blending mandates in light of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The war has increased grain prices and fueled concerns about possible food insecurity and conflicts between food and fuel. Sources at Downing Street were already aware that the push to freeze biofuel mandates, and transition the farm land used to produce feedstocks into food for human consumption, was likely to fail.
