In India, the Press Trust of India reports the country’s parliament, Lok Sabha, has passed a bill that promotes ethanol, green hydrogen and biomass-based fuels, amongst other non-fossil fuels. Key to the legislation are penalties for failure to use fuels blended with renewable fuels, be they industrial units, vessels or manufacturers if the vehicles they build aren’t conducive with blended fuels. The bill also seeks to introduce carbon trading. The power minister called the bill “the bill for the future”.
