In Washington, Politico reports Republicans hope to take the debt ceiling package to the House floor for a vote this week, a measure which would scale back or cut clean energy support mechanisms built into last year’s Inflation Reduction Act, but Republicans in ethanol states especially are feeling the heat. With the 2024 election season warming up and potential challengers looking to unseat incumbants who swing one way or the other on ethanol in particular, the votes needed for the Republicans to push through the debt ceiling legislation are running a thin margin.
