Uruguay announces $2 billion investment to construct hydrogen plant in Paysandu

In Uruguay, Mercopress reported that Uruguayan President Luis Lacalle Pou announced an investment of $2 billion for the construction of a green hydrogen plant in Paysandú. The works, expected to begin this year, will generate between 1,500 and 3,200 jobs. Another $2 billion will be invested in renewable energy projects, according to the report.

“Here in Uruguay and here in Paysandú we are going to benefit from this investment. Once finished, the hydrogen plant will have 300 permanent workers,” Lacalle Pou said.

“In this energy transformation that the world is undergoing, Uruguay has done its homework,” Lacalle Pou added.
