In Singapore, Platts reports Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore believes that by 2026 it will be ready to offer ammonia bunkering, around the same time that the first ammonia fueled ships are expected for delivery. The port stepped back from earlier expectations about ammonia fueling trials happening before the end of 2023 due to safety concerns. The port is concerned that although there is demand driving the fuel’s adoption that the technology may not be moving as fast as desire.
