In the UK, H2 View reported that the UK Government has revealed its shortlist of electrolytic hydrogen projects in the running to receive funding from the Hydrogen Business Model/Net Zero Hydrogen Fund.
The Hydrogen Allocation Round 1 (HAR1) plans to fund up to 250MW of electrolytic hydrogen projects across England, Scotland and Wales. The contracts are expected to be awarded in the fourth quarter of 2023
The report noted that the shortlist announced by the UK government includes projects totaling 408MW of capacity.
Some of the selected initiatives include RES and Octopus Renewables’ three projects in Scotland, Wales and the south east of England, while Carlton Power’s projects Barrow Green Hydrogen, Langage Green Hydrogen and Trafford Green Hydrogen are also included in the list.
The report also highlighted that the UK Department for Energy Security and Net Zero has said any projects that have not been shortlisted for HAR1 are encouraged to submit updated bids for the second allocation round which is set to be launched in the fourth quarter of 2023, aiming to award contracts up to 750MW of capacity.
