In Spain, Europa Press reports Bioenergia Ibérica has built a biogas plant in the facilities of the Queizuar cheese factory, in the town of Bama, in A Coruña. Specifically, the plant, which will be inaugurated in early 2024, will generate 3,000,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) of clean energy per year, avoiding the emission of more than 600 tons of CO2. The project will use lactose and sewage sludge as feedstock for the biogas facility, which will provide 80% of the factory’s energy consumption.
