In Israel, TIPA, a manufacturer of high-performance compostable materials, and packaging company ATI have introduced lids for compostable coffee capsules. Suitable for all capsules, including Nespresso machines, the high-barrier laminate addresses problems other compostable coffee capsules have experienced such as delamination, poor sealing, and material ending up in the coffee. They are also certified by OK Biobased for use of plant-based materials.
“Whilst compostable coffee capsules have been on the market for several years, the market is yet to develop effective lids to complement the capsules,” Daphna Nissenbaum, CEO of TIPA said. “Within this collaboration with ATI, TIPA has delivered a superior solution to the coffee market. The compostable coffee capsule lids ensure that there is a fully compostable and circular solution for coffee lovers, whilst giving brands eco-friendly solutions developed by experts.”
