In Australia, Acciona announced that it has acquired 100% ownership of the Kwinana Waste-to-Energy project in an agreement reached with Macquarie Capital and Dutch Infrastructure Fund.
The firm noted that the facility is on track to be operational in the last quarter of 2024 when it will divert up to 460,000 tons of waste per annum from landfill and deliver 38 megawatts of baseload power to the Western Power grid, sufficient to power more than 50,000 households.
Acciona’s Australia Chief Executive Officer Bede Noonan said: “Acciona is delighted to be playing such an important role in the delivery of Australia’s first Waste-to-Energy facility – a vital asset that will deliver critical waste management infrastructure and sustainable energy to Western Australia.”
