In Norway, a Yara press release reported subsidiary Yara Clean Ammonia has partnered with Greenko ZeroC, the green ammonia production arm of India-based AM Green, to secure a major supply of renewable ammonia. The agreement centers on AM Green’s first phase of innovative ammonia production facility in Kakinada, India, promising to deliver up to 50% of its output to Yara by 2027.
This facility is not just another industrial plant; it’s set to be a cornerstone in the production of renewable ammonia, utilizing continuous carbon-free energy. This venture aligns with stringent EU renewable fuels standards and is set to bolster Yara’s efforts in producing low-emission fertilizers, aiding in the decarbonization of heavy industries such as shipping and power.
According to the notice, Mahesh Kolli, President of AM Green, said, “We are delighted to partner with Yara Clean Ammonia to propel the transformation of various industries and several OECD economies.”
As reported in the press release, Yara Clean Ammonia’s CEO, Hans Olav Raen, also highlighted the strategic importance of the Kakinada project: “It expands our portfolio of ammonia produced with renewable energy and consolidates Yara Clean Ammonia’s position as a reliable supplier of low-emission ammonia to established and emerging markets.”
