In Washington, Reuters reports that almost no corn-based ethanol will qualify for the sustainable aviation fuel credit under the rules recently released by the Treasury Department. The controversy surrounding the use of ethanol as SAF feedstock has been fueled by the revision of the GREET model that could have included or excluded it due to its carbon intensity. Brazil, on the other hand, has already started shipping sugarcane-based ethanol to the US as feedstock as it meets the CI requirements.
