In the UK, World Bio Market Insights reported that Axalta Coating Systems (AXTA), a global coatings company, has introduced the Alesta BioCore line of powder coatings.
This new offering aims to reduce the environmental impact of the coatings industry by utilizing non-food organic waste as a raw material, the report stated.
The report also highlighted that Alesta BioCore boasts a potential 25% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to traditional powder coatings that rely on fossil fuel-based polyester resins. Axalta become the first manufacturer within the powder coatings industry to receive the ISCC Plus accreditation for biobased feedstock sourcing practices earlier this year.
The biobased materials used in Alesta BioCore are sourced from non-food waste, the report added.
