In Korea, Korea IT Times reports Hanwha Ocean will display a 93,000㎥ Very Large Ammonia Carrier (VLAC) at the Posidonia 2024 exhibition in Athens, Greece.
Ammonia is emerging as a key fuel for the carbon-free era due to its lack of carbon dioxide emissions. Since late last year, demand for ammonia carriers has been increasing. Hanwha Ocean’s VLAC features advanced eco-friendly technologies, including the Shaft Generator Motor (SGM), which conserves fuel by generating power through a motor linked to the propulsion shaft, and the Hanwha SmartShip Solution & Service platform developed by Hanwha Ocean.
“Posidonia 2024 will be an excellent opportunity to showcase Hanwha Ocean’s overwhelming eco-friendly technological prowess to shipowners worldwide,” stated a Hanwha Ocean official.
Posidonia, one of the world’s top three international shipbuilding and maritime exhibitions, attracts over 30,000 visitors. This year’s event is being held from June 3rd to 7th in Athens, Greece, featuring over 2,000 companies from more than 100 countries.
