June 25, 2024 |

In South Korea, Business Korea reported that HD Hyundai Oilbank announced that it will be the first company in South Korea to export SAF. The SAF produced by HD Hyundai Oilbank will be supplied to the Japanese trading company Marubeni and used by All Nippon Airways (ANA). The report noted that the product is made using a co-processing method that incorporates both petroleum-based materials and plant and animal-based bio-materials into HD Hyundai Oilbank’s existing refining facilities. Park Jin-hyuk, Executive Vice President of HD Hyundai Oilbank’s Global Business Division, said: “As global demand is increasing, we will secure the leadership in the global SAF market through active exports. We will also expand the export of biofuels produced through co-processing methods, such as bio-naphtha and bio-diesel.” HD Hyundai Oilbank also plans to actively target the market, anticipating an increase in SAF demand not only in Japan but also in Europe and other regions, according to the report.
