Syensqo takes controlling stake in rosemary extracts firm, Azerys

July 15, 2024 |

In Morocco, Syensqo has completed the acquisition of a controlling stake in Azerys, a specialist in rosemary extraction with assets in El Jadida, Morocco, for an undisclosed sum.

Azerys produces a 100% natural plant-based, non GMO preservatives range based on rosemary extract that can replace chemical food additives. The bolt-on acquisition complements Syensqo’s activities in natural vanillin produced from rice bran and allows the company to expand its capabilities in renewable consumer solutions.

“Natural preservatives are a growing segment in the bioeconomy and rosemary extract is a key product in food preservation, requested by customers in this space. As the leading supplier of vanillin to the world, we have an excellent reputation of quality and service and we will bring the same values to this new field,” Syensqo says in a press statement.
