Gensol Engineering secures bid for India’s first biomass-to-green hydrogen project

In India, on September 2, 2024, Gensol Engineering Limited, in partnership with Matrix Gas & Renewables, was awarded the EPC contract for India’s first biomass-to-green hydrogen project, valued at INR 164 Crore. This pioneering project, set to be completed within 18 months, will convert 25 tons of bio-waste into 1 ton of hydrogen per day, marking a crucial milestone in India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission.

The project will utilize advanced gasification technology developed in collaboration with Westinghouse, USA, and will significantly contribute to the country’s energy transition by addressing environmental challenges through innovative and sustainable solutions. Chirag Kotecha, Whole-time director, Matrix Gas & Renewables said, “We are proud to be at the forefront of India’s energy transition with the development of the country’s first Biomass to Green Hydrogen project.”

This achievement underscores the importance of innovation and collaboration in the renewable energy sector, paving the way for future developments in green hydrogen, green steel, and green ammonia production.
