In South Korea, HMM announced plans to invest KRW 14.4 trillion into sustainable initiatives by 2030 as part of its strategy to become a global leader in eco-friendly shipping. This investment will focus on acquiring 70 low-carbon vessels, designed to meet global environmental regulations and drive the company’s transition towards carbon neutrality by 2045.
These green investments, which represent over 60% of HMM’s total planned spending, will also include retrofitting existing ships with cleaner technologies and securing green fuel sources to reduce emissions across its fleet.
Additionally, HMM will allocate funds to enhance green infrastructure, with upgrades to port facilities and logistics systems to support sustainable shipping operations. Digital solutions will also be integrated to boost operational efficiency and minimize the environmental impact. These efforts align with HMM’s broader sustainability agenda, which includes improving fuel efficiency, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and establishing a carbon-neutral ecosystem across its entire logistics chain.
