California Senate President Pro Tem postpones vote on ushering in E15 until next session

October 8, 2024 |

In California, E&E News reports California Senate President Pro Tem Mike McGuire has pushed consideration of A.B.X. 2-9, the House bill that passed last week requiring the California Air Resources Board to push through quickly regulations to boost ethanol blending to 15% from the current 10%, to the next session rather than in the emergency session dealing with energy issues. The Senate will instead take up A.B.X. 2-1 promoted by Governor Newsom that seeks to avoid future gas price spikes by forcing refiners to store gas onsite. McGuire said the E15 bill needed more analysis and work before it was ready for consideration.
