In the UK, Fuel Cells Works reported that Torrent Group has brought India’s second green hydrogen plant online in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh.
The new facility, jointly developed by Torrent Power and Torrent Gas, is the first in the state and aims to produce 72 tons per year of green hydrogen for blending into natural gas pipelines at concentrations of up to 2%, according to the report.
The hydrogen will be distributed via Torrent’s existing city gas infrastructure to households, industries, and CNG stations, marking India’s largest hydrogen-natural gas blending initiative to date within an urban setting. The plant is a flagship project under Uttar Pradesh’s Green Hydrogen Policy 2024, which targets 1 million tons of green hydrogen output by 2028, the report added.
