In the Netherlands, Burando Energies announced its partnership World Fuel Services and Norwegian Cruise Line to supply sustainable biofuels to six Norwegian-operated vessels during European port calls. The agreement covers ISCC-certified B30 blends, comprising 30 percent waste-based biodiesel, delivered as a drop-in fuel fully compatible with existing engines and bunkering systems.
The partnership includes operations for the Norwegian Prima and five other ships, with World Fuel Services coordinating the supply chain and Burando Energies managing large-scale deliveries. The initiative supports Norwegian Cruise Line’s Sail & Sustain environmental program by achieving immediate emissions reductions using fuels already commercially available.
By leveraging existing infrastructure and proven biofuel blends, the companies aim to demonstrate a practical pathway to decarbonization while maintaining operational schedules. The collaboration offers a replicable model for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the cruise sector without waiting for future propulsion technologies.
