Crafoord Prize in Biosciences goes to genetic polymorphism research

In Sweden, Richard Lewontin of Harvard and Tomoka Ohta of Japan’s National Institute of Genetics have received the 2015 Crafoord Prize in Biosciences from the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences for their ‘pioneering analyses and fundamental contributions to the understanding of genetic polymorphism.’ Real life applications of their technology include applications in systematic biology, enhancing knowledge of genetic variation that may result in new opportunities for understanding relationships between and within species.
