Across the US, more ethanol is being transported by rail as some train companies look to convert their oil transport cars to carry biofuels. As crude imports become more economic by sea rather than transport by rail, and rail companies are forced to implement new stricter rules for carrying fossil fuels, lease rates for cars has fallen by more than 70% over the past 18 months—enough to provide an opportunity for ethanol.
