Glencore buys 70% stake in Brazil's Rio Vermelho ethanol plant

In Brazil, Glencore has paid $80 million for a 70% stake in the Brazilian ethanol plant Rio Vermelho, its first ever investment in the cane sector. The facility produces only ethanol and can crush up to 1.3 million metric tons of sugarcane per year. The company is expected to expand the mill’s production capacity as well as add sugar and co-generation production.
