In Australia, the community of Cloncurry in northern Queensland is working with the local development agency to determine the feasibility for supporting a local biofuels industry, one that the mayor says could encompass at least 20,000 acres in the next few years. Thanks to the possibility of new dam on the Cloncurry River, biofuel crops could be irrigated. The feasibility study is currently examining which crops would be the most appropriate for the region’s biofuels ambitions.
