In Australia, the Australian Broadcasting Corp reports that the country’s canola farmers have secured permission to export the crop to Europe for use in biodiesel production thanks to its lower GHG emissions that are 15% below Germany’s, allowing biodiesel produced from it to achieve the 50% GHG emissions reductions required as of January 1 by the EU’s Renewable Energy Directive. It said that Canada and Croatia that also export significant volumes of canola weren’t able to get the same green light.
