The Situation
We are specialists in process simulation, providing expertise in process design and optimization, and techno-economic assessments. We have experience in a range of bioprocesses including bioethanol, biodiesel, biobutanol, levulinic acid, and bioplastics.
Top past Milestones
One significant effort over the past 3 years has been a detailed process analysis for production of the bioplastic – the polyester, polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB), including an analysis of the opportunities for co-product production from different fermentation routes.
This effort then expanded to the production of a novel medium change length polyhydroxyalkonoate – mcl-PHA
Another milestone has been the modeling and analysis for levulinic acid production from cellulosic wastes – the Biofine process.
Top future Milestones
The future milestones are very dependent on the strength and expansion of the advanced bioeconomy. We are planning on expanding our offerings to potential customers internationally.
Our vision is for more integrated bioprocesses, with more co-product opportunities that would require sophisticated process modeling approaches, simillar to that used in the petrochemical industry
The success of the advanced bioeconomy will be about extracting the most profit from the entire value chain.
