Tell us about your company and it’s role in the Advanced Bioeconomy.

CERES has 3 partners and 3 consulting members focused exclusively in renewable and bio-economy, each with experience in all projects phases from concept development to operations. We understand the need for completing projects safely, on time, in budget, maintaining quality for long term sustainability and maintainability.

Tell us about your role and what you are focused on in the next 12 months.

Continued development of sustainable anaerobic digester projects producing renewable natural gas
Publish white paper on Biogas Production and Utilization
Assist new start up geothermal developer business growth and execution of projects
Continued growth of our consulting business

What do you feel are the most important milestones the industry must achieve in the next 5 years?   

Increased awareness of general public of our contributions

Increased support from government other than financial, ie increases in RPS and RFS requirements, advanced biofuels

If you could snap your fingers and change one thing about the Advanced Bioeconomy, what would you change? 

Political and economic policies and incentives for renewable and bio-economy projects

Of all the reasons that influenced you to join the Advanced Bioeconomy industry, what single reason stands out for you as still being compelling and important to you?   

Long term environmental need to conserve and manage resources for generations to come. My grandchildren’s grandchildren should inherit from us a sustainable planet.

What was your subject focus (e.g. major) in university (undergraduate and/or graduate, and where did you attend? Why did you choose that school and that pathway?

Electrical Engineering – Digital Systems Design and Computer Science

Technology was changing to digital systems and room sized main frame computers were soon to be obsolete (and the first desktop followed less than 2 years after graduation).

Who do you consider your mentors – could be personal, business, or just people you have read about and admire. What have you learned from them?  

Dr. Daryl Schroeder, professor during undergrad, taught perseverance and never give up.

Tony Robbins and Dale Carnegie for life lessons that we all should practice and enjoy.

My kids and ex-wife who taught me patience and understanding.

Joel Stone who helped me find my path and passion for renewable energy and the bio-economy and has been a great coach along the way.

Andrew Benedek, a visionary, who taught me to think differently about the big picture.

Vanessa Conradi who taught me that its ok to take care of myself first sometimes and that everyone around me is not always my responsibility, choose to be happy in life.

What’s the biggest lesson you ever learned during a period of adversity?   

Personal choices are important as they affect you and those around you. Choose to be happy each and every day, its my choice and no one can take that away from me.

What hobbies do you pursue, away from your work in the industry?   

Stamp collecting, reading, writing, movies, cards, dice and board games, puzzles of all kinds from soduku to jigsaw.
