For the production of BIOVYN fossil feedstock has been substituted with bio-attributed ethylene in the supply chain, a renewable feedstock that does not compete with the food chain. BIOVYN is certified by RSB as delivering a 100% substitution of fossil feedstock in its production system, enabling a significant greenhouse gas saving compared to conventionally produced PVC.
Why significant and what’s next: To date, most of the successes in the materials field have been in small niches. The breakout is beginning and fabrics and we also see it here with PVC, which is a huge and global market. More to come.
