In Spain, Expansión reports Acciona and Plug Power announced a €49 million investment to develop a green hydrogen production plant in Arteixo, Galicia. The project, named Arteixo H2V, has been declared a strategic industrial initiative by the Galician Government, accelerating its approval process. The plant will utilize renewable energy to produce approximately 3,000 tons of green hydrogen annually, using four 5-megawatt electrolyzer modules.

The facility, which will occupy six plots in the Morás industrial park, will include compression, storage, and charging equipment, along with auxiliary systems and a 66kV substation connected to the electrical grid. This green hydrogen will be supplied to local consumers, contributing to the region’s sustainability goals. The project is expected to create 25 direct jobs during its operational phase, boosting the local economy and reinforcing Galicia’s commitment to renewable energy.

This partnership between Acciona and Plug Power, operating under the Accionplug alliance, underscores their dedication to advancing green energy technologies and supporting Europe’s transition to a low-carbon economy.
