#7 Canadian brand looks to penetrate condom market with natural latex

In Canada, a newly launched sexual wellness brand is selling biodegradable condoms that eschew the “unnecessary and harmful” ingredients found in mass-marketed prophylactics. Dubbed Jems, the company uses only natural latex and silicone lubricant. The female-led startup says on its website that its condoms are “made with intention” and free of parabens, paraffins, talc, benzocaine, nonoxynol-9, glycerine, cetyl alcohol, and spermicide.

The company also aims to be a platform for sex education. “We believe everyone should have access to safer sex and the choices that fit who they are,” according to its site.

The condoms are available in the US and Canada from Jems’ website, Jemsforall.com. A 12-pack retails for $15.
