In France, Altens is strengthening its activity in biofuels with the launch of the low-carbon PUR100. This alternative fuel, produced from French rapeseed, has a greater power to reduce greenhouse gases than traditional B100 thanks to more virtuous agricultural practices.
This new low-carbon B100 has greater GHG reduction power than traditional B100. The reduction in GHGs does not only occur when using biofuel in engines but also when growing the plant. The implementation of more virtuous agricultural practices makes it possible to increase “emission savings through the accumulation of carbon in the soil” (ESCA), and therefore improves the environmental impact of rapeseed. This better land management favoring the sequestration of carbon in the soil mitigates climate change.
