In Australia, production has begun of a UCO-based drop-in diesel fuel called Eco+ Biodiesel developed by chemical engineering classmates. Early clients are invited to purchase fuel from Biofuel Innovations at a discount of just 99 cents per liter for trial runs. The company’s process is said to use 50% less energy than traditional biodiesel production using an enzymatic process and has zero wastewater. The lean start-up is open to equity investments to help fund the construction of its commercial facility.
