Watch this story. We’re continuing to track the value of octane. The value of octane is going up in these nefarious times, not down. A year ago, 89 octane gasoline cost 11 percent more than 87 octane. Today, it’s 19 percent more.  With the plummet in ethanol prices, the value of the octane boost is almost more than the energy value.
