Boarding school favored by Royal Family boasts renewable products side hustle

In Scotland, the rigorous boarding school attended by both King Charles and his father Prince Philip has created a line of green products such as bamboo toothbrushes to wheat hairbrushes

Students at Gordonstoun run the enterprise, which includes plant-based mouthwash tabs and biodegradable wipes. The products are sold at the school’s health center, reducing the over 4,000 packages the students receive annually with personal care items.

Rachael Wareing, Gordonstoun’s healthcare center manager was inspired to start the shop by her daughter, who is “passionate” about the environment and pushed the family to begin using bamboo toothbrushes. “‘It then got me thinking that we should be doing more of this at Gordonstoun, so I decided to start a new enterprise initiative offering sustainable healthcare products,” Wareing said. “Our new enterprise has only been going a few months at the school but it has been so popular that we have had to expand to keep up with demand.”
