In Brazil, Reuters reports bp plans to expand its biofuel production following the buyout of its 50/50 JV with Bunge in the country. Second generation ethanol, e-fuels, biogas and sustainable aviation fuel are likely on the cards with BP Bunge Bioenergia’s massive 11 ethanol plants around the country ready to scale. Most sugarcane refiners in Brazil have been scaling up sugar rather than ethanol production in recent years, but bp is choosing to focus on fuels instead.
