In Brazil, the Folha de Sao Paulo newspaper reports that the University of São Paulo is testing a Toyota Mirai that will run on the world’s first ethanol-based green hydrogen. The trial is expected to see the vehicle run 600km without needing to refuel with only water vapor coming out of the tailpipe. The ethanol-based hydrogen pilot plant is currently under construction and should be ready in mid-2024 so that the fuel cell vehicle that currently runs on standard hydrogen can pilot the new fuel.
