Brazilian 2024/25 corn consuption for ethanol seen at 17M tons

June 25, 2024 |

In Brazil, S&P Global reports Alphamar Shipping Agency estimates 17 million metric tons of corn is destined for ethanol production during 2024/25 compared to 13.26 million tons. With increased demand for corn as an ethanol feedstock, prices are rising and encouraging growers to plant more of the crop. Higher prices will also make potential exports that much more expensive, having an impact on the global corn price. Traditional importers of Brazilian corn, like China, will have to pay more if they hope to lure producers to export rather than supply the booming ethanol industry.
