In Brazil, Renewables News reported that Brazilian power distributor Eletrobras has signed two memorandums of understanding (MoUs) tied to the production of renewable energy and green hydrogen with the government of Ceara state and with European company Green Energy Park (GEP). The agreement with Ceara stipulates the development of projects at the Pecem Industrial and Port Complex (CIPP) for energy transition, decarbonization of the local economy and promotion of low-carbon hydrogen as well as its derivatives such as green ammonia. The report also noted that the partnership between Eletrobras and GEP will follow a similar module, aiming to contribute to the production of green hydrogen and derivatives at competitive prices. The collaboration will combine resources of more than 10 GW, available for renewable hydrogen production at Eletrobras and a unique production platform designed and implemented by GEP, the report added. The Ceara government has already signed 37 MoUs and six pre-contracts related to green hydrogen production, the report stated.
