In Florida, Carnival Corporation & plc, the world’s largest cruise company, has finalized an agreement with Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri to construct three new liquified natural gas (LNG)-powered ships for Carnival Cruise Line. Scheduled for delivery in 2029, 2031, and 2033, these vessels will mark a new class of ships, boosting Carnival’s LNG-powered fleet to 16 ships, nearly 30% of its global capacity.
Fincantieri’s CEO Pierroberto Folgiero expressed pride in constructing the largest cruise ship ever built in Italy. With over 3,000 guest staterooms, the new ships will be the largest in the Carnival Corporation’s global fleet.
LNG offers significant environmental benefits by reducing greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional marine fuels. The new ships will feature advanced energy efficiency, waste management, and emission reduction technologies, aligning with Carnival’s commitment to sustainability.
