In the Philippines, The Manila Times reported that Cebu Pacific, the Philippines’ largest low-cost airline, launched sustainable Tokyo-Manila commercial passenger flights powered by blended sustainable aviation fuel and Airbus NEO or new engine option aircraft.
According to the report, Flight 5J 5055, the inaugural flight from Tokyo’s Narita airport, is part of Cebu Pacific’s strategy to meet a long-term global goal of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
Cebu Pacific said it was the first low-cost carrier in Southeast Asia and the first Philippine airline to use SAF for commercial passenger flights.
In July this year, the airline used 41% blended SAF for the delivery of A320neo Airbus from Tianjin, China, to Manila, the report added.
