In Brazil, Reuters reports Brazil’s energy policy council CNPE has temporarily halted biodiesel imports while raising the biodiesel blending mandate to 14% from March 2024 compared to the current 12% and will increase again to 15% from 2025. With every 1% increase representing about a billion liters of demand, the move is an important one as the CNPE had ruled last year that blending from 2024 would be 13% instead of 14%. Biodiesel imports will remain on hold until a working group decides on whether to permit them or not.
