In Brazil, Reuters reports that the country’s agricultural supply agency, CONAB, has cut its estimate for ethanol production in 2021/22 by nearly 11% to 29.2 billion liters, which includes fuel from both corn and sugarcane, as a result of drought and then frost conditions. Sugarcane crushing is expected to fall similarly, but 10.6%, to 538.7 million metric tons with the crush likely to stop before the traditional winding down in December. Sugar production is seen falling to 33.9 million tons, 11.3% lower than 2020/21.
