Coronavirus Responses & Impacts Bioeconomy Survey Results – March 2020

March 19, 2020 |

Comments from readers. What special actions are you taking, what impacts are you seeing? In short, what’s happening and what should happen as you see it?

  • Main thing is to get the vaccine going ASAP, combined with flattening the rate of spread.
  • More use of skype, teams, webex etc as F2F meetings curtail. We see developments moving time lines out and project delays as construction and new operating procedures are drawn up.
  • I am wondering if closing the financial markets would have made a difference – probably not, but that would be an interesting question. Having technically knowledgeable and competent people in leadership roles, but how do you plan for this? The leadership exhibited at the highest levels now (i.e. political) is not helping. This is not a political issue. Coherent, and most importantly, science-based policy, is a must-have. The virus will not respond to negotiation, policy threats, financial machinations, or even military force, and it does not respect borders. That makes the repertoire of current world leadership largely useless.
  • Stimulating social distancing to the max. Reduce travel only to only needed for transportation , to work (if any, most work remote), to get food, groceries. Nothing outside that.
  • The special action taken is to asked some staffs to go on compulsory leave the remaining staffs were given some preventive measures like washing of hand the use of nose mask etc
  • Tele working from home. Stopped business traveling daily contact via video conference calls with employees. Keep morale high working force. intensify contacts with customers and suppliers via video conference calls. Make plans to catch up after corona crisis re available volumes ex suppliers and delivery to customers. Secure raw material supplies  Restore business as before crisis keep close contacts with banks, governmental authorities and supply chain. Actual situation in Belgium soft lockdown.
